Senior Snow Session

February 4, 2010

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a senior session in the snow this week! Brooke and I met back in the early fall. At the time we had discussed having a snow session for her senior pics. I am so glad she called me the other night, and we made the plans. These were taken on a local golf course. We didn’t have a whole lot to work with, but the session really captured her beauty. The snow truly made her the main focus. My toes are still thawing out, but it was a rockin’ session. We ended up with 62 great images and she wanted me to showcase them. Here is her sneak peek:

Brooke, thanks so much for the great day! Can’t wait to finish your senior session.

Ice Storm 2010 Update

January 30, 2010

(PS. The news has been moved to The News Archives. They will no longer be sticky posts. I felt that the website need to continue flowing week-to-week without the News being my first post. I know, I’m sorry. I keep changing things. But this is how I find what works. My one follower can send me an awful email letting me know I have thrown the complete balance of their life off, because I can’t make my mind up. It’s ok. I promise it throws me off balance too! HaHaHa. If it’ any consolation, it can still be seen below. Have a great day everyone! )

First and foremost I send out a huge “Thank You” to my sweet and hard working hubby. He has set me up with a generator that I will forever be grateful to. It’s benefits are helping me keep my sanity. My hubby could have easily told me that the generator WOULD support the ice box, a light, the dish and tv only… and said that it WOULD NOT support the two router boxes and my laptop. But behold it is doing a fine job and the baby and I are both entertained.

We have been without power since Thursday morning, and continue to be without power. PSO has informed us that it will AT LEAST be Monday before power is restored. As most of you know, I run my website similar to a blog. I’ve always loved ‘blogsites’ vs. regular or even flash websites. To me this is more personal and it helps me to update with my latest and greatest. I’m all about personable. Just ask. So I thought it would be fun to update with some personal pictures from the ICE STORM 2010.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

So with all of those pics, I wanted to include a few of my favorites of my daughter Lauren. What can I say about Lauren? First, she’s a busy-busy-busy child. She keeps me on my toes from getting into things, to rough housing, and being impatient. Her nick name is “Patience”, because she has NONE! She is my child who demands immediately, expects no waiting, and lets you know when you aren’t cutting it. I’d like to say that MOST of this comes from her daddy who has taught her the key words “chop-chop”. Yes, daddy is not the most patient either.

The last two are my favorites. They represent my daughter well.

I would like to take a moment and talk about Lauren. Mostly so one of these days I will look back and remember her at the sweet loving age of 2 years old.

*She loves pancakes. In fact she ate two this morning and they were not mini sized at all.
* She LOVES cell phones and anything the might look like a cell phone. She picks the object or the phone up, holds it to her ear and says “hallo?”. Then proceeds to carry on a conversation that we have no idea who she is talking to and what she is saying. My husband calls it “talking chinese”.
* She hates my camera, and I am pretty sure that she hates me when I bring out the camera. I hope that most photographers children despise the camera. I hope that I am not the only one. I hope that she grows out of it.
* She has the craziest and wildest hair I have ever seen! It takes lots of mouse and gel to make it last 6 hours before she looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket.
* She loves to dance and loves music. She’s always moving and grooving. I never want to forget when Zac Brown Band first came out with ‘Chicken Fried’. That kid LOVED that song.
* She’s discovered that she can pick her nose and loves to do it. ALL THE TIME.
* She has an imagination. She will play and entertain herself a lot. It’s not always for long periods of time, but I’ve had many compliments on this. She gets that from me.
* She talks, a lot. She especially loves to strike up a conversation with herself when we need the quiet the most. She senses this I swear. It never fails, whether I get on the phone, try to listen to the news, try to have a conversation with my husband. She talks, and talks, and talks. Sadly, she gets this from me too.
* She has an infatuation with dolls and horses. Which I am happy for. I call her my little mother hen. She babies her babies. And we constantly play baby horse and mommy horse.
* She loves to say “excuse you” whenever you have made any noise of any kind. Even if it wasn’t a true body function, if she thinks it was, she says it. And expects you to say “excuse me”. I hear “excuse you daddy” a lot! Just sayin’.
* Speaking of, she thinks it’s the funniest thing when she toots… it’s hilarious. She laughs and giggles and says; “mommy, I tooted”. She’s so proud. We’re so proud;) She gets that from her daddy and bubba.
* Lauren has a major OCD. Yes at two, she can be classified as OCD. She absolutely cannot stand for hands to be dirty or wet. I can’t tell you how many times we wash our hands each day. She will cry and cry until you let her wash her hands. She also cannot stand to have a wet shirt. However, ironically, she has no desire to potty train. Much to my despair.
* She LOVES her ‘bear’ first, then ‘pooh’, then ‘tigger’. And And when I make her make a choice, she tries to take both bear and pooh wherever we go. It takes convincing on my part to leave one at home, in the car, i.e.
* When she is tired or relaxing, she holds on to ‘bear’s’ paw and sticks her thumb in her mouth. Rarely does she suck on it, just holds her thumb in her mouth.
* Whenever I hear, see, or think of Jacks Big Music Show, I want to cry.
* Whenever I hear, see, or think of Blue’s Clues, I want to cry.
* Whenever I hear, see, or think of Elmo’s World, I want to cry.
* Whenever I hear, see, or think of Winnie The Pooh, I want to cry.
* All of these things have become synonymous with her.
* In that order.
* That and crayons. I have so many masterpieces from her than I will ever know what to do with. She gets the artsy from me.

Wow, I really could keep going. She’s the love of my life. My world. My everything. And I thank the Lord for bringing her into my life.

Motherhood is quite possibly the most incredible thing on the planet! I am glad I am not the only mom who write these little odes to thier children. Glad you are enjoying the ice storm and by the way the ice and snow pics are really good.
